Dancing with Cohen
Dance me in a circle
Dizzy whirling round about
Dance me as the sun sets
By the moonlight, beyond doubt
Move me to the drum beat
By the thick black lake of stars
Pounding as the waves break
Feet of thousands from afar
Cohen crooning softly
Through the bloodstream, head to heart
Eternal in a circle
Matisse women, never part
Dance me in the darkness
Passion ringing hear him singing
Dance me, without ceasing
To the end of love
Dance me in a circle
Dizzy whirling round about
Dance me as the sun sets
By the moonlight, beyond doubt
Move me to the drum beat
By the thick black lake of stars
Pounding as the waves break
Feet of thousands from afar
Cohen crooning softly
Through the bloodstream, head to heart
Eternal in a circle
Matisse women, never part
Dance me in the darkness
Passion ringing hear him singing
Dance me, without ceasing
To the end of love

Ah..yes music, movement and feel good. Your experience of Cohen sounds wonderful, mine is still tarnished by teenage melancholy on sunday afternoons at boarding school!
ReplyDeleteI came to this completely naive as regards Cohen (who that?) but love the Matisse, and felt the throb of drum beats as I read. Heady stuff! Loved it.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful song Sally, If you look up "Dance me to the end of love" on you tube, you will see a very sad video of older people dancing together, and looking back on their lives, made me cry when I saw it.
