Heartfelt

Heartfelt

Well past the mid-year turning
towards Autumn’s equinox
our lovely land to furthest view
horizon, all is baked and burnished
ochre aubergine with flash of lime-bright yellow green
an artist’s choice today
and even early (roused by bells)
the sky’s already lit and clear
cloudless, as bee-eaters whirl by
and cockerel somewhere crows.
Who knows the whys and wonderings
how such beauty came to be?
No matter, I’ll be still
subdue will
heartfelt, for this moment
I’ll be glad.

  1. O Sally, I'm so glad you too had a heartfelt moment! You've inspired me to try to turn mine into poetry as well. You have conveyed so well that lovely swelling feeling of joyfulness.

  2. Thank you Jenny for your lovely warm response. The truth is that we are so very fortunate to live in this landscape and that on many many days I will wake and look through the bedroom window and be stunned and uplifted by the view. It is always changing and always so beautiful. It most certainly does feed the soul and lift the spirits.
