Boy on a scooter
See you fast forward fearlessly
Face to the future
Twenty-first century boy
Projection
A dream of all our possibilities,
Tomorrow's tomorrows
See your small feet
Modelled on my own, my mother's too
Genetic after-life and fast forward
Fearlessly
Twenty-first century boy

It is in their hands Sally.Such a joy for a Granny to see and celebrate it. Sad that my own Mum only complained and looked away missing out on acceptance and seizing the opportunities when she had them with her grand children. Where did the genetic line for exubberance and speed come from or is this a childhood condition?
ReplyDeleteI cannot tell you how much it delights me when you so clearly get what was in my mind,Jude. It is a joy to see the future like this and moving to feel my place in the story of this family-line, the spur to this being mine and mum's feet and small toes translated in this little Bondi boy, who is so very much his mother's child, but does have small bits of Dan and I (though oddly Dan has my hands but his father's feet!) The whole story of your mum is shot through with sadness isn't it Jude, but how wonderful that you are so diametrically different in the way you celebrate every small moment and detail and have been able in your professional life to enhance so many childhoods. The exuberance and speed? Look no further than the fathers of both Zachy and Luca!
