Winter’s dog days
Suspended, a fly in amber
Trapped in the curve, the camber
Swung in a hammock’s u
Immobilised by glue
I am a water-beetle caught
In time’s meniscus, floating, nought
Here as the world stands still
Vanished the wish the will
Enchantment in a fairy tale
Replicating shackles, gaol
Has woven a spell, a silk cocoon
Cryogenic witching moon
With what relief the brightness comes
Liquefying frozen numb
At last with heart and head held high
Ready to whirl, unfurl to fly
Whither the song the air the dance
Fare forward voyager, fate and chance
Suspended, a fly in amber
Trapped in the curve, the camber
Swung in a hammock’s u
Immobilised by glue

Havn't got the brightness but 1O degrees has made a huge difference in my will to move around!
ReplyDeleteIs indeed partly the cold that is so stultifying and makes me so lethargic in the long days between Christmas and New Year. Is also too much sitting in over-heated rooms, eating too much too often, etc. Always seems like a dream to be so lazy, but the reality is not really so pleasant is it.
ReplyDeleteHit the nail on the head Sally. I do think you were 'in the zone' when you wrote this one-enjoying the book and love the scarf. Thank you so much.
