Alice
Tamarama's turquoise today
Sea-green and aqua
Foaming bright white along the shore
Far out prussian blue
Thick and dark, directly from the tube
Today the followers in thrall to surf
The rise and roll adrenaline's rushing ride
A hundred years ago a roller-coaster
Pleasure park where Sydneysiders
Came numerous to play
And incidentally gaze and gasp
At foreign marvel tethered here
Reluctant immigrant
Forever exile
An elephant named Alice

hmm, I do like prussian blue!
ReplyDeleteI want to stand ono that beach and take in the salty air! I will one day!
Just been to Tamarama again today and the colours were quite different- much more blue and less turquoise. I love prussian blue too and remember some of Van Gogh's skies and cypresses where he used it straight from the tube, unmixed. The beaches here are divine and ever changing, and would certainly have you Gill reaching for your brushes!
